BUCHAREST, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Romania's National Meteorology Administration (NMA) issued on Sunday a nowcasting Code Orange warning of snowfalls and blizzard for ten counties in the eastern and southern parts of the country.

According to the forecaster, the warning will enter into force from Sunday evening to Monday evening in eastern counties of Buzau, Vrancea, Braila, Galati, Iasi, Bacau and in southeastern counties of Ialomita, Arges, Dambovita and Prahova, with isolated precipitation exceeding 40-50 liters/sqm.

High winds blowing in gusts of more than 70-80 kmph, heavy snowfall and visibility below 50 meters are expected.

A code yellow blizzard alert will also come into force on Sunday evening, when heavy snow will gradually include most of the country, except for the north-western area, and will make a new and thick layer in the south and southeast.

Meteorologists said that they will update the weather warnings depending on the development and intensity of weather phenomena.

Romania faces in this weekend the worst snowstorms of this winter, after having experienced a warmer-than-ever Christmas, when the mercury topped 20 degrees Celsius in many cities.
