BUCHAREST, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Many Romanian families have to shorten their New Year stay from 6-7 days to 4-5 days due to low purchasing power and hoteliers must adapt situation, offering suitable packages to attract as many tourists as possible, according to the Romanian Tourism Employers Federation.

"Romanians used to allocate for New Year's Eve stay around 6-7 days, but now, due to serious lack of money, they could not afford to stay in the mountains but for 4-5 days," federation's Vice President Dragos Raducan was quoted as saying this weekend by local Mediafax news agency.

According to him, hoteliers try not to lose tourists for this reason and have offered three types of vacation packages so as to be suitable for everyone.

One type of package provides a mini holiday of two nights, including breakfast, priced 150-300 lei (43-86 U.S. dollars) per person and another offer covers reduced stay of 4-5 days for New Year Eve with prices ranging between 800 and 3,000 lei per person depending on the complexity of the package, class, and especially the reputation of the hotel, Raducan added.

Increasingly more Romanians prefer to give up New Year holidays and raise money for a great stay in summer holidays.

"A New Year's Eve package in the mountains cost as much as a week at the seaside in summer," added Raducan. (1 U.S. dollar = 3.49 lei)
