BRUSSELS, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector grew by 1.3 percent in the 18-nation eurozone and by 0.4 percent in the 28-nation European Union (EU) in October compared with the previous month, figures from Eurostat showed on Thursday.
The increase of 1.3 percent in the euro area is due to building construction rising by 1.4 percent and civil engineering by 0.3 percent.
In the EU, the increase of 0.4 percent is due to building construction rising by 0.4 percent and civil engineering by 0.2 percent.
In September, production in construction fell by 1.0 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.
On a yearly basis, production in construction grew by 1.4 percent in the euro area and by 1.5 percent in the EU.
Among Member States, the highest increases in production in construction were observed in Hungary, Italy and the Netherlands, and the largest decreases in Romania and the United Kingdom.
