PARIS, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande will fly to West African countries next week to focus on the fight to eradicate the Ebola virus, as well as to promote the 15th Francophonie summit in Africa.
Hollande was scheduled to visit Conakry on Nov. 28 where he would "implement an action plan to fight to end the Ebola virus in Guinea," his office said.
Asked to provide further assistance to put a stop to the fatal virus in West Africa, Hollande pledged to build more Ebola treatment centers in Guinea beyond the military hospital, which is due to open in the forested region of southeastern Guinea where the first cases of Ebola were detected.
The French president will attend the summit of French-speaking countries in Dakar, Senegal next Saturday, the French presidential office Elysee revealed in a statement.
