BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. actress Ashley Benson has apologized for her offensive "Cecil The Lion" Halloween costume.
The 25-year-old "Pretty Little Liars" star posted in her social media account of herself wearing a lion costume and originally captioned her picture, "Help! Can't decide on my Halloween costume this year! What do you guys think of this Cecil the lion costume?”
This post provokes angers on the Internet. Commentators called the costume "clueless," "insensitive" and "in poor taste" and called out the actress' inconsiderate gaffe.
Cecil The Lion, now-deceased 13-year-old lion, was killed earlier this year in Zimbabwe by an American dentist who reportedly paid 50,000 U.S. dollars to hunt the famed animal.
Ashley Benson apologized in social media. "I am a supporter of animal conservation and I will be donating all the proceeds of this deal to the World Wildlife Fund. I love you all and I apologize if I let you down." said the actress.
