LISBON, May 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. rock bands Linkin Park and Queens of the Stone Age performed Friday night at the Lisbon rock music festival, joining other bands for the festival, which officially starts Sunday.
The two bands' performance at Bela Vista Park attracted around 40,000 fans, plenty of them teenagers.
The concert took place just weeks before the release of Linkin Park's new album, "The Hunting Party". Their last album, "Living Things", was released in 2012.
They switched between hardcore and melodic, performing tunes such as "Keys to the Kingdom" and "One Step Closer".
Linkin Park were preceded by hard-rock band Queens of the Stone Age, with frontman Josh Homme asking fans to wave their mobile phone torches.
Homme sang "Little sister" (their first single) "Fairweather friends," "Sick, Sick, Sick" and "No One Knows."
Queen of the Stone Age released their sixth album, "Like Clockwork", in July 2013. They last played in Portugal in July 2013 at the Festival Super Bock Super Rock.
Upcoming performances include Arcade Fire on Saturday and Justine Timberlake and Jessie J on Sunday.
