BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- "Despicable Me," the animated comedy smash hit of 2013, is finally out here in China this Friday.
You can catch screenings in English for this 3D comedy extravaganza but also in Chinese where it is voiced by Deng Chao and Cindy Tian.
Interestingly, Cindy is the daughter of Tian Liang, the former Chinese diving Olympics champion.
The pair caught public attention for participating in a TV program called "Where Are We Going, Dad".
The film is a sequel to the 2010 animate film "Despicable Me." It tells a story of Gru, a reformed super villain who is now on the side of the good guys.
Deng Chao says he enjoyed voicing the character. "The opportunity does not come easily. I like the story of the film. I like Gru's character. He's got a warm side. Strictly speaking he's not a good man. He has a lot of flaws, though this time he stands against the bad guys. He tries to impress the others and that makes him good. Also Gru falls in love in "Despicable Me 2." That's a big change in the second sequel. "
This was the second highest grossing film of last year worldwide. The film earned over $918 million making it the most profitable film in the 100 year history of Universal Studios.
"Despicable Me 2" is to hit Chinese IMAX screens on this Friday January 10th.
