BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Oscar winning filmmakers the Coen brothers have premiered their latest film "Inside Llewyn Davis" at the ongoing London Film Festival. They’re joined by the stars of the movie, Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and their old friend John Goodman.
The film has been on the festival circuit for months now, generating buzz in Cannes, Toronto and New York, notably for the performance of its lead actor Oscar Isaac.
Isaac stars as Llewyn Davis, a talented singer-songwriter who drifts from couch to couch after the suicide of his singing partner.
The actor admits that before taking the role, his knowledge of folk music was limited. But then again, working for the Coen brothers has been rewarding on many levels. "It was the best experience of my life so far. They are really wonderful people and really generous with their thoughts about everything, life, art, film making," Issac said.
Joining him on the red carpet is Carey Mulligan, who has had a very successful year. The actress bounced straight from playing the much-coveted role of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s "The Great Gatsby", to the far less well-groomed character in the Coen’s movie. She has taken that transition in her stride.
"That is always what you want as an actor - to do the opposite of what you have just been doing and to try to do something completely different. And Jean, my character in "Inside Llewyn Davis" was everything that Daisy wasn’t so it was quite liberating just to shake off that character and go and do something else," Mulligan said.
The role has also provided another vehicle for Mulligan’s vocal prowess, following her singing performance in Steve McQueen’s provocative film, "Shame."
But when asked if we’ll be seeing a Mulligan album on the shelves of a record shop, the actress promises there won't be. "I’m sure that will be a relief to some people," she said.
With that being said, you can hear more of Carey Mulligan’s singing when "Inside Llewyn Davis" is released in the United States this November.
