BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Thursday saw the finale of New York Fashion Week. Ralph Lauren has foreseen a bright spring with a mix of vivid colors and classic black-and-white looks. While Calvin Klein’s new collection was a study in geometry.
A good percentage of the spring collection from Ralph Lauren is black and white: low-slung patent-leather minis paired with printed floral trenches, a black knit dress with a sharp white menswear-style collar, a perfectly tailored white pantsuit with a black mock-neck top.
The designer also saturated a handful of looks in bright lime, orange, red and yellow in both daytime ribbed dresses and leather coats, as well as evening wear. The gowns would be surefire favorites for red-carpet cameras.
Actress Jessica Alba was among those who loved the color. "The color was great, it was different for Ralph...I feel like Dylan’s Candy Bar rubbed off. And I love the swinging 60s. It’s such a great era," Alba said.
Designer Francisco Costa celebrates 10 years as Calvin Klein women’s creative director with a spring collection full of sophisticated separates. The outfits seemed fiercely scavenged, as though Costa had rummaged through piles of admittedly high-end scraps of silk and leather.
Several dresses consisted of broad hoops of fabric encircling the body but without quite lining up - there were no clean vertical lines. A knee-length skirt had excesses of fabric flapping off one side. Sleeves on the matching top ended at the elbow in dangling loose threads.
Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman showed her support for Calvin Klein by sitting front row at the show, next to Rooney Mara and Naomie Harris.
