BEIJING, March 16 (Xinhua) -- The fifth installment of the "Resident Evil" horror franchise starring Milla Jovovich will debut on Chinese screens Sunday.
According to the China Film Group Corporation, the film's importer, the science-fiction action-thriller "Resident Evil: Retribution" sees Jovovich reprising her role as Alice in a battle against an evil biomedical corporation and its army of zombies.
The Sony/Screen Gems film is adapted from the survival horror video game series of the same name.
Ada Wong, one of the most popular characters in the video game series, is portrayed in the film by Chinese actress Li Bingbing.
"Retribution" debuted in the United States last September. The four previous films have earned nearly 700 million U.S. dollars worldwide since the first movie in the franchise debuted in 2002.
