BRUSSELS, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- The exhibition "Africans in China" by Chinese photographer Li Dong was inaugurated Friday evening in the RecyclArt cultural center of Brussels.

The 44 works show the life of Africans living in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, and their exchanges with local Chinese.

After watching "Africans in China", Johan Leman, former chief of staff of the Royal Commissioner for Immigration Policy, told Xinhua these photos have "very high quality".

They "show different aspects of the life of African immigrants in China. Immigration is a phenomenon of globalization, it follows the development and fortune. African's increasingly interest on China, that means development and modernization are progressing very well in China," added Leman, who has worked over 40 years on immigration affairs.

The Baohanzhijie Street is located in Yuexiu district of Guangzhou. Since 2002, more and more African businessmen settled there for international trade. According to Li Dong, about 12,000 Africans are living there now.

"Africans in China" is now attracting the attention of Chinese and foreign sociologists and economists. At the invitation of the Catholic University of Leuven, the exhibition in Brussels will last to Dec. 11. These photos had been exhibited in Paris, France, and Cologne in Germany.
