HONG KONG, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Hongkong Post announced Thursday that it will stage a "Love Post Day" on Oct. 9 in support of the World Post Day.
For the ninth consecutive year, Hongkong Post is supporting the World Post Day by sponsoring every citizen in Hong Kong to send a letter to a local recipient without charge to convey their caring sentiments.
Postmaster General Jessie Ting said, "In this era of electronic communication, the traditional art of letter-writing has not lost its charms. A letter or postcard received through the post warms the heart in ways that a virtual e-message or SMS could never hope to emulate."
On Oct. 9, those who wish to participate in the "Love Post Day" may drop their letters in special collection boxes placed in all post offices, except two mobile post offices, in Hong Kong. The letters will be delivered on the following day.
The World Post Day is celebrated annually on Oct. 9 to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union.
