BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Guests were awed and touched by a newly-wed couple who exchanged a huge golden python at their wedding in northeast China's Jilin Province.
A 24-second video of their wedding soon went viral on Weibo, China's equivalent of Twitter, as netizens find their wedding both bizarre and sweet.
The video showed that the bride Jiang Xue held a gold python to the groom at the wedding banquet and the groom Wu Jianfeng pulled another giant python out of a blue cabin and wrapped it around Jiang's neck.
The pair, who are wildlife lovers, said their pythons, weighing 30kg and 15kg respectively, are the tokens of their life-long romance.
The couple had been taking care of the two pythons when they discovered them in the countryside of Jilin City in 2015.
However, Chinese citizens are not allowed to keep wild wild animals as pets.
Shortly after news of the wedding circulated online, the two pythons were seized by forestry public security bureau and are currently staying at a local wild animal rescue center.
