BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- In the end of August, 2015, CMA held an international training course on the application of meteorological satellite products. 57 students from 20 countries participated in this training. On the application of Chinese assistance system including CMACast and MICAPS, Mr. Syed Zeeshan Haider, a programmer of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD); Mr. Barun Paudel, a meteorologist of Nepal Meteorological Forecasting Division; and Ms. Tyas Tri Pujiastuti, an officer of Sub-Division for Satellite Data Management in Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics of Indonesia (BMKG) accepted the interview of China Meteorological News Press.

Q: Is this your first time to China to attend the training? How do you think about this training course?

Syed Zeeshan Haider: I'm from Pakistan Meteorological Department. I am working as a programmer with responsibility of programming more system in GISC and to maintain and analyze the CMACast products, especially satellite products. I'm attending this training to operate the system for the satellite and CMACast new products. This is my first time in China. I'd like to thank CMA and WMO, on the behalf of the PMD. And I think this training is very helpful for me and for my department to use the CMACast system, and to who don't know the new products, which is being well used in Pakistan. But I think it's very short. The course only has ten days. It's better to prolong to one month. And it's better to give more time to make hands-on practice of this system.

Barun Paudel: I'm now working in Nepal Meteorological Forecasting Division. My duty in the department is to issue the aviation and public weather forecast. I have come here to attend the training program on application of meteorological satellite products. This is my first visit in China. We learned many things from here about application of Chinese Meteorological Satellite products as well as some new software such as SWAP and SMART(Satellite Monitoring Analysis Remote-sensing Toolkit). I think it would be better to prolong the program at least three weeks or one month that we could learn more in the practical classes, hands-on training. We need more practical sessions, hands-on training and some field trip. So that it will be more useful for us.

Tyas Tri Puiastuti: I work as staff in satellite subdivision in BMKG. I have responsibility for satellite application in my country, from receiving the data, processing into products and analysed the products. This is my first time to come to China. It's a very good training, and very helpful. From this training, I got more information especially about Feng Yun satellite which is one of our main satellite data resources, and the most important information about the new software MICAPS (Meteorological Information Comprehensive Analysis and Process System), SMART and SWAP. I think the training should be conducted in longer time, with more spesific major. And it will be good if we can get more experience especially with the new software, MICAPS, SWAP and SMART.
