BEIJING, July 13 (Xinhuanet) -- The Ningdong Base, a State Council-approved development zone in northwest China’s Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is striving to become an important national-level key development zone of thermal power, power transmission, coal chemical industry, and circular economy demonstration.
It is currently making steady headway in major projects, as its economic strength has grown significantly in recent years.
By the end of 2014, its accumulated investment in fixed assets was 311 billion yuan, with 52.06 billion yuan attracted in 2014 alone, accounting for 16.3 percent of the total in the autonomous region.
In addition, the Ningdong Base has attached great importance to environmental protection. "We will never go after economic growth at the expense of environment," said Li Jianhua, Secretary of CPC Committee in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The base covers an area of 3,484 square kilometers, and is 40 kilometers away from Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
