BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Two former senior officials from north China's Shanxi Province have been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office following internal-Party investigations, the CPC's disciplinary watchdog said Tuesday.

Former head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee, Bai Yun; and secretary-general of the provincial Party committee, Nie Chunyu, were found to have taken advantage of their posts to seek profits for others, and accepted bribes, cash and gifts.

Nie was also found to have committed adultery, according to the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Both Bai and Nie were formerly members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee.

The CCDI said Bai and Nie's illegal gains have been confiscated and they will both be the subjects of criminal investigations.
