TAIYUAN, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- A suspected murderer who has evaded authorities for 19 years has been arrested in north China's Shanxi Province, police said on Saturday.
The suspect, identified as Zhang, is suspected of murdering two women in a kidnapping of another woman, identified as Ran, in June 1996. The two victims were the mother and the sister of Ran's husband, who were stabbed to death when they confronted Zhang to stop the kidnapping.
The police said Zhang, 43, who was at the time of the alleged crime a farmer in Yangou Town, Yuanping City, absconded after killing the women.
The police are securing more evidence to support their case.
