BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government has been doing its best to help countries affected by the recent Ebola outbreak, said Ministry of Commerce (MOC) spokesman Shen Danyang on Tuesday.
China is among the countries to have provided the most aid, Shen said, totalling 750 million yuan (122.95 million U.S. dollars) in April, August, September and October. The government has sent 450 public health experts and medical workers there, building laboratories and treatment centers.
China was the first to provide funds specifically for fighting Ebola; the first to send medical teams to the affected regions; the first to send protective materials on special planes, Shen said.
China will continue to do what it can to help the affected region and boost medical cooperation with Africa, he said.
