NAY PYI TAW, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Wednesday evening had a brief conversation initiated by Abe during a welcoming banquet of the 9th East Asia Summit.

Li stressed that adherence to the four political documents reached between China and Japan is an important basis for the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

Only after taking history as a mirror, can the two countries better look forward to the future, Li said, adding that he hopes the two sides could meet halfway, overcome political obstacles and bring bilateral ties back to the normal track of development.

Abe said, in accordance with a four-point principled agreement reached recently between the two countries, Japan is willing to face history squarely, develop a strategic relationship of mutual benefits with China on the basis of common interests, and push forward bilateral cooperation in such fields as trade and economy.
