BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Wang Qishan, discipline chief of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a delegation of the Socialist Party of France headed by its first secretary Jean-Christophe Cambadelis in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang, secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, said the country has to apply a strong bind of discipline to those who hold power.

Wang, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the confidence of the people comes from their trust in the ruling party.

"We have a sober mind that corruption erodes the basis of our governance and undermines social fairness and justice," Wang said, adding that the anti-corruption struggle is an issue of the people's endorsement and success of the CPC and the state.

He said the country will insist on punishing every case of corruption and disciplining every case of graft-taking so as to guarantee the development of a country ruled by law.

Wang pointed out that different countries and political parties should respect the diversity of cultures by understanding each other's history and current conditions.

Cambadelis expressed readiness to learn more about the history and culture of China and strengthen exchanges between the Socialist Party and the CPC.
