BERLIN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- China and Germany have agreed to join hands in the cross-border chase of fugitives and booty recovery.

The consensus was reached at talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of the just-concluded China-Germany governmental consultations.

The two ministers also agreed to accelerate negotiations on concluding bilateral treaties on judicial assistance in criminal matters and extradition, thus laying the legal foundation for China-Germany cooperation in cross-border chase of fugitives and booty recovery.

Both sides also emphasized that Germany should not become a refuge of those who commit corruption.

Since 2007, China and Germany have conducted four rounds of negotiations on concluding a treaty on judicial assistance in criminal matters.
