China, Egypt agree to enhance defense cooperation

BEIJING, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan met with Egyptian Vice Defense Minister Fouad Abdelhalim Elsayed Saad in Beijing on Monday.

The meeting focused on boosting defense cooperation between the two countries.

Hailing the sound momentum of bilateral military ties, Chang, also a state councilor, said China is willing to make joint efforts with Egypt to cement pragmatic cooperation between their two armed forces and promote military ties to a new level.

Fouad said his country attaches great importance to ties with China, and is committed to facilitating closer military cooperation.

Fouad is here to attend the second conference of the China-Egypt Defence Cooperation Committee.
