HUAINAN, Anhui, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- More than 20 people are missing after gas exploded in a coal mine in east China's Anhui Province on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at around 5 a.m. in Xiejiaji District of Huainan City, according to the city government.

The coal mine has an annual capacity of 90,000 tonnes, according to the provincial coal mine safety supervision bureau.

Rescuers are on the way.
