BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's central government on Monday sent tens of thousands of tents, quilts and other disaster-relief materials to southwest China's earthquake-hit Yunnan Province.

About 33,000 tents, 10,000 quilts, 60,000 cotton coats, 10,000 folding beds, 10,000 sleeping bags, 5,000 sets of folding chairs and tables as well as 50 mobile toilets have been dispatched to the areas affected by the quake, said a statement from the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The death toll has risen to 398 with three missing as of Monday afternoon, while 1,801 have been injured and about 230,000 evacuated.

The Yunnan provincial government has also arranged the transport of relief materials and allocated relief fund to the affected areas.

The earthquake on Sunday afternoon also affected neighboring Guizhou Province with about 7,200 people evacuated and about 1,500 houses seriously damaged there.

The ministry has asked the two provinces to collect detailed information about the damage and will support them to carry out rescue and relief work, the statement said.
