At least 150 dead in SW China quake

KUNMING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least 150 people were killed after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted southwest China's Yunnan Province Sunday afternoon.

The strong quake hit at 4:30 p.m. Sunday (Beijing Time) with a depth of 12 km and the epicenter in Longtoushan township, 23 km southwest of the county seat of Ludian, Zhaotong City.

KUNMING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 6.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Ludian County of Zhaotong City in southwest China's Yunnan Province at 4:30 p.m. Sunday (Beijing Time), said the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 27.1 degrees north latitude and 103.3 degrees east longitude with a depth of 12 kilometers, according to the CENC. Full story
