Death toll from China plant blast rises to 71

NANJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from an explosion that ripped through a factory in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday morning has risen to 71, with 186 injured, local government said Sunday.

NANJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- An explosion has killed 69 people and injured more than 180 others after ripping through a factory in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday morning, government sources said.

The blast gutted a wheel hub polishing workshop owned by the Taiwanese-invested Kunshan Zhongrong Metal Products Co., Ltd in Kunshan City at 7:37 a.m., according to the city government. Full story

State councilor heads for factory explosion site

BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong is heading for the site of a deadly factory blast that left 65 dead and over 100 others injured in Kunshan City in east China's Jiangsu Province on Saturday.

President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang assigned Wang to lead a State Council working team to Kunshan to look into the accident, according to an official statement.Full Story
