KABUL, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The charge d'affaires of Chinese Embassy in Afghanistan, Chen Shijie, Monday said that China would remain a trustable and reliable friend of Afghanistan.
"China remains a reliable friend of Afghanistan no matter how the international and regional situations change," the diplomat said in meeting with Afghan Minister for Information and Culture, Sayed Makhdom Raheen, who is also the chairman of Afghan-China Friendship Association.
In the meeting also attended by Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, the advisor to President Hamid Karzai on national security, Minister for Higher Education Obidullah Obid, Kabul University professors and students, the Chinese diplomat assured China's continued support to Afghanistan.
"China will continue to provide support and assistance and work closely with Afghanistan to expand and deepen the bilateral strategic and cooperative partnership, so as to realize the strategic goals and peoples' well-being of our two countries," he added.
Briefing the participants in the meeting held in Kabul University's Chinese Language Department, Chen also highlighted Confucianism, saying Confucius is a well-known philosopher, statesman and educator in ancient China.
Over the past more than two thousand years, Confucius' works have been the classics that every Chinese must read, his thoughts have been a part of the foundation of Chinese civilization, and his edifications have been regarded as the moral standards of all Chinese, Chen added.
"As an important source of inheritance and innovation of Chinese diplomatic theories, Confucianism still enlightens and guides the Chinese diplomacy theoretically," the diplomat said in his remarks.
