BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs chief Zhang Zhijun said the Chinese mainland will continue to develop cross-Strait ties when meeting with Taipei mayor Hao Lung-bin on Sunday.
Zhang expressed his appreciation for the active role Hao and the city of Taipei have played over the past years in promoting cooperation and exchange.
Zhang said throughout his four-day visit to the island, he has felt mainstream public support for peaceful development across the Strait deeply and the Taiwanese people from all walks of life have expressed the hope that cross-Strait ties to be further enhanced in the future.
Zhang also expressed his hope to Hao, also vice-chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang (KMT) party, that the Chinese mainland and Taiwan enhance interaction and cooperation in all areas so as to bring more benefits to the common people across the Strait.
Mainland's Taiwan affairs chief returns from island visit
BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs chief Zhang Zhijun landed in Beijing at around 10 p.m. Saturday after a four-day visit to the island.
The trip of Zhang, head of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, marked the first Taiwan affairs chief from the Chinese mainland to visit the island in 65 years. Full Story
Mainland's Taiwan affairs chief urges cross-Strait communication
KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan, June 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland's Taiwan affairs chief, Zhang Zhijun, on Friday expressed his hopes for more communication with local people and to hear their advice on cross-Strait cooperation.
