TAIPEI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Zhijun, Chinese mainland chief of Taiwan affairs, has arrived at Taoyuan International Airport on Wednesday noon for a four-day visit.
He is the first director of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office to visit Taiwan.
During his visit from June 25 to 28, Zhang is scheduled to meet Taiwan's mainland affairs chief Wang Yu-chi. This will be the second meeting between the two officials this year. Wang visited the mainland in February.
Zhang is scheduled to visit New Taipei City, Taichung, Kaohsiung and meet the mayors of the three cities. He is also expected to visit Changhua County.

Indeed, the historical significance of this visit -- the first to Taiwan in the name of a director of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office since 1949 -- hardly pales in comparison with that of a moon landing for mankind's scientific progress. Full story
