BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China appreciates the value of the Shangri-La Dialogue as an important platform to discuss Asian security, and will not be absent from the event in Singapore, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Friday.

Spokesman Qin Gang said at a daily press briefing that Chinese military and diplomatic officials have attended all the annual conferences of the dialogue in recent years.

Wang Guanzhong, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), will lead the Chinese delegation to the dialogue this year.

Fu Ying, chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China's National People's Congress, will also attend the dialogue, he said.

The Chinese delegation will expound China's point of view on security during the dialogue and discuss with other parties on ways to jointly safeguard regional peace, security and stability, Qin said.
