Chinese state councilor meets Australian governor

BEIJING, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Wednesday met with visiting Australian New South Wales Governor Marie Bashir.

Yang said China is committed to forging ahead relations with Australia, and promoting dialogues and exchanges in various areas. He appreciated Bashir's contribution to China-Australia relations and local exchanges, calling for closer people-to-people cooperation.

Bashir said she hopes the two countries can deepen substantial cooperation at state and local level to promote common prosperity.
