BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao held talks with visiting Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Beijing on Friday.

Li called for closer bilateral cooperation in such areas as energy, high technology, infrastructure building and anti-terrorism.

Hailing the progress of China-Saudi Arabia strategic relations, Li called on both countries to strengthen political trust, accelerate the FTA talks between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and enhance cooperation in building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

Salman, also deputy prime minister and defense minister of Saudi Arabia, said he has reached a broad consensus with Chinese leaders during his trip, which would push forward bilateral strategic cooperation in many areas.

Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to its cooperation with China, he added.

After their talks, Li and Salman witnessed the signing of cooperation documents regarding quality inspection, investment and space technology.

Salman is paying his official visit to China from Mar.13 to Mar.16 as Li's guest. Li held a welcoming ceremony for him at the Great Hall of the People on Thursday.
