TAIYUAN, China, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Maya Moore was dancing, screaming, and kissed by her teammates. Smile appeared on her face. Home Fans stood on their feet and waved to the "Invincible Queen".
The 2013-14 Chinese Women's Basketball Association (WCBA) came to a conclusion as Shanxi defended their title with a 82-73 home victory in Game 4 of the Finals here on Tuesday.
Maya Moore finished with 39 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six steals. Zhang Yu helped with 17 points. Ohga Yuko and Ma Xueya had 12 apiece.
"The first one is definitely sweet, but the second time it's about doing again. It's much harder. Everybody knew we were the champion, every game was harder," Moore talked about the difference between her first WCBA title and this one.
Beijing's Sun Xiaoyu opened the game with a jumper, and the hosts responded with Moore's layup and Ohga Yuko's jumper. After Elizabeth Cambage scored five points in a row, Shanxi took the advantage with a 7-0 run and led by 26-17 after the opening period.
The defending champion had an eight-point lead into the last 12 minutes, and extended their lead beyond double-digit points, thanks to Moore's two free throws.
Fans began to celebrate their victory ahead of time, while the visitors made a strong comeback, led by Cambage's three-point play, to cut the deficit to four points.
Then Moore's jumper helped her team stay comfortably with 1:40 to go, and Ohga Yuko added a 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining for a nine-point home win.
"A beautiful team effort," Moore concluded for the team performance.
What will she do next? "Rest," Moore replied with a smile.
Elizabeth Cambage contributed 35 points and 19 rebounds for Beijing. Her teammates Shao Ting and Sun Xiaoyu scored 15 and 10 respectively.
