Launch of Xinhuanet's Malaysia channel earns widespread acclaim

BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Personages of various circles from China and Malaysia have sent congratulations upon the opening of the Malaysia channel of Xinhuanet, giving credit to its role in promoting bilateral exchanges and friendships.

“The Malaysian channel on Xinhuanet will serve as a new window and a fresh bridge for governmental and non-governmental communication and cooperation between the two countries,” said Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang in his congratulatory letter.

Huang said communication and good feeling between the two peoples have carried on and expanded their friendship generation after generation, and the development of China-Malaysia relation will surely benefit the two peoples.

Malaysia-China Friendship Association expressed warm congratulations on the official launch of the channel, saying that the channel will help the two peoples promote development and cooperation and create the brilliancy together.

Officials form the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia, Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, Media Chinese International Group, Chinese channel in Media Prima Group, Malaysian Chinese Cultural Society and Han Culture Centre Malaysia have also sent their congratulatory letters on the launching of Xinhuanet’s Malaysia channel.

“Establishment of the Malaysia Channel will play an imperative role in helping the Chinese people understand Malaysia in a comprehensive and deep-going way”, said Wu Hancan, president of Han Culture Centre Malaysia.

The Malaysia channel started trial run on Jan. 1, 2014. It was the first national channel targeting Malaysia opened by the Chinese mainstream media, introducing Malaysia to Internet users in Chinese, English and Arabic.
