BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Netizens from China and the ROK have voiced strong anger by the fact that Japanese military officers of the notorious troop＂Unit 731＂had published papers or even obtained PhD based on the research result of human experimentation during the period of 1927-1960.
”These war criminals actually obtained their degrees because of their cold-bloodiness, it is so ridiculous,” a netizen commented.
“Unit 731” established a germ factory with the largest scale in the world near Harbin, capital city of northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, during its invasion.
More than 10,000 men, women and children－include Chinese, Koreans and prisoners of war－died or were killed in the camps during the unit’s experimentation.
On the eve of Japan's surrender, the Japanese military blasted the factory to destroy evidences, which further caused germ spreading to nearby areas and brought a horrible disaster to local residents.
According to a report from Dong-a Ilbo, a famous South Korean newspaper, series documents show that at least 23 Japanese military officers from the unit, a special forces for germ warfare during the World War II, had published papers based on research result of human experimentation and even obtained doctorate degrees from a national university in Japan.
A large amount of netizens argued that the degrees of these people should be withdrawn. A netizen said: “These people who had committed heinous crimes in China suddenly changed to be scholars after back to Japan, which is really unacceptable.“
“It is very disgraceful to obtain a doctorate with bloody hands, they have no qualification at all,” another netizen said.
A honorary Japanese professor of Shiga University published an investigation to verify about doctoral dissertations of people from “Unit 731” in 2012, by researching holdings of Kyoto University and the National Diet Library of Japan.
