BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday extended Spring Festival greetings to military veterans.

Xi, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the comments while attending a festive art performance for veterans and ex-officers in Beijing.

This year's Spring Festival, or the Lunar New Year, falls on Jan. 31.
