BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev pledged on Tuesday to further economic, trade and cultural ties with China and promote European-Chinese cooperation.

The China-Bulgaria all-round friendly partnership, which was announced following Plevneliev and Chinese President Xi Jinping's Monday talks, will push bilateral cooperation in all sectors, he said at a press briefing.

Plevneliev is in Beijing for a four-day state visit, as the first head of state to visit China in 2014.

The two sides have agreed on areas of cooperation, he said, underlining agriculture and food processing industries.

Bulgaria expects to increase its agricultural products exports to China, such as its milk products, rose oil and wine, he said.

The president called on Chinese companies to be involved in Bulgaria's major infrastructure projects, such as the Black Sea Highway, Bulgaria-Romania hydro-power station and two bridges over the Danube River.

China and Bulgaria will also set up cultural centers in Beijing and Sofia, he said.

Plevneliev highlighted cooperation between Europe and China, saying his country, as well as other central and eastern Europe countries, hope to grasp the opportunities emerging from China's initiatives.

During his attendance at a leaders' meeting of China and central and eastern European countries last November in Romania, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang raised a six-point cooperation proposal, focusing on trade, transport, nuclear energy, finance and culture exchange.

Bulgaria, as one of China's best friends in the EU, will play a leading role in that aspect and is willing to host the next leaders' meeting, he said.

"The Bulgarian-Chinese friendship has lasted for the last 65 years, and we will play a positive and constructive role in furthering EU-China cooperation," he said.
