TASHKENT, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Prime ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states are seeking to improve cooperation among their countries at a meeting here Friday.

Participants of the 12th SCO prime ministers' meeting would mull ways to enhance security cooperation and economic connection within the six-member organization.

The meeting would highlight cooperation particularly in the fields of transportation, energy and telecommunication.

The SCO prime ministers are expected to sign a raft of cooperation deals to further implement the consensus on practical cooperation reached at an SCO summit in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek earlier this year.

They are also to explore multi-lateral economic cooperation among SCO member states.

The SCO, founded in the Chinese city of Shanghai on June 15, 2001, groups China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan are observer states to the SCO, and Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners of the organization.
