Leading group formed to ensure reform smoothness: Xi

English.news.cn   2013-11-15 22:08:51

BEIJING, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping said the leading group for overall reform is designed to ensure smoothness of the country's reform, according to the full text on a key Communist Party of China (CPC) document unveiled Friday.

Forming such a leading group is among the decision made by the CPC Central Committee on major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reform, according to the key document adopted by the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, which concluded on Tuesday.

Entrusted by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Xi, also general secretary of CPC Central Committee, explained the document to the Party session, which was held from Nov. 9 to 12.

In his explanation, Xi said forming the leading group is intended to make better use of the CPC's role, as the leadership of China, in commanding the overall situation of the country and coordinating all aspects.

The move aims to ensure that the country's reform is carried out smoothly and all relevant tasks are fulfilled, he said.

Calling China's "comprehensively deepening reform" a complicated, systematic project, Xi said, "it is far beyond the ability of one or a few departments and requires the establishment of a higher-level leadership mechanism."

The group will be in charge of designing national, major reform on an overall basis, arranging and coordinating reforms in relevant aspects, pushing forward reform as a whole, and supervising the implementation of reform plans, Xi said.
