BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 businessmen and women from South Sudan are in China's southern city of Guangzhou for a visit to the ongoing Canton Fair, or the China Import and Export Commodities Fair.
The delegates, composed of professionals in the fields of banking, engineering, medical equipment, oil and gas, water and sanitation, electricity and power, as well as from small-scale businesses, will tour the fair and hold group meetings with representatives from Chinese companies.
The purpose of their visit is to enhance cooperation, principally in the fields of economics and trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
The delegation will also visit Chinese factories and interact with Chinese entrepreneurs.
The Canton Fair has taken place in Guangzhou every spring and autumn since 1957. It is the country's largest trade fair today with around 100,000 booths.
The delegation from South Sudan, which became an independent state in 2011, will leave for home next Thursday.
