DALIAN, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2013, also known as Summer Davos, opened Wednesday in northeast China's port city of Dalian.
This year's forum, themed "Meeting the Innovation Imperative," will feature interactive discussions on issues ranging from sustainable growth, energy security to trade and investment.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. More than 1,500 delegates from 90 countries and regions will participate in the three-day forum.
China needs reforms for economic development: Premier
DALIAN, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Premier Li Keqiang said Tuesday that China will have to rely on reforms to achieve long-term, sustainable and healthy development of its economy, while underscoring future reforms to be carried out in multiple fields.
In response to questions raised by business representatives ahead of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2013, also known as Summer Davos, Li said the key to economic reforms is to "balance well the roles of the government, the market and society." Full story
Chinese premier urges confidence in emerging economies
DALIAN, Liaoning Province, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Monday called on the global community to keep confidence in the ability of emerging economies to cope with current challenges.
Some emerging economies have been influenced by expectations that major developed countries might withdraw from quantitative easing monetary policies, Li said. Full story
