BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhuanet) --An exhibition on China's Old Summer Palace, or Yuanmingyuan, will come to Russia at the Chinese Culture Center in Moscow starting Sept.1.
Valuable relic replicas, models and priceless photographs will be displayed at the 20-day exhibition in an attempt to reproduce the beautiful scenery, amazing landscape, imperial customs and fantastic architecture of Yuanmingyuan, dubbed the "garden of gardens.”
It doesn't end there. Visitors can take a virtual tour of the imperial garden's vast collection of treasures at the tech-supported exhibition and watch a 3D film focusing on the palace's gardens.
The exhibition will also offer spectators a rare chance to truly experience traditional Chinese art forms, including calligraphy, painting and Peking Opera. They can also try some of the the Qing imperial food prepared on the site by famous chefs from Beijing.
Another highlight will be the exhibition hall of the "Three Mountains and Five Gardens" located in Beijing's Haidian District , namely Jingyi Garden on Xiangshan Mountain, Jingming Garden on Yuquan Mountain, Qingyi Garden on Wanshou Mountain (today's Summer Palace), Changchun Garden and Yuanming Garden. Haidian has launched the construction of a historical and cultural tourist attraction centering on these gardens, originally created during the reign of emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911).
It's the second time that Yuanmingyuan "goes abroad" since it was built some 300 years ago.
Yuanmingyuan's first overseas exhibition was held in Berlin (Germany) in December 2012, attracting great international interest in the garden as well as in Chinese culture overall.
