SANYA, China, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- The World's Strongest Man 2013 kicked off in Sanya, a coastal resort city of South China's Hainan Province, on Saturday.
Thirty athletes from different countries in the world, including Russia, the United States, South Africa, Lithuania, Latvia and China will participate in the 8-day competition with 5 qualifying rounds and the finals.
The athletes will compete in the following matching events, such as keg toss, Astra boulders, yacht pulling and car lifting.
Created in 1977, the World's Strongest Man has become the premier event in strength athletics. It has been held annually since 1997 and was first held in Sanya in 2006.
