Chinese vice premier meets UNAIDS executive director

BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with the executive director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS Michel Sidibe (UNAIDS) here on Friday.

During the meeting, Liu thanked the UNAIDS for its support for China's efforts to control AIDS.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to fighting AIDS and has been making increasing efforts to achieve the AIDS-related Millennium Development Goals, Liu said.

As a member of the UNAIDS program coordinating board, China will actively take its responsibility and share its experiences in fighting AIDS with other countries, she added.
