BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- China said Friday it welcomed the decision by Bahrain's political groups to resume national dialogue.
At a daily press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, "China hopes Bahrain's relevant parties maintain peaceful ways, including dialogue, to properly solve disparities so as to realize national long-term stability and development."
Bahraini political groups have agreed to partake in the second round of national talks which will start on Sunday, according to Bahrain's government.
A total of 14 members, including six from the opposition and eight from pro-government groups, will take part in the long-awaited talks to discuss political issues, which they failed to reach consensus on in 2011.
Bahrain was hit by unrest in February and March 2011, which resulted in deaths of several citizens including some policemen.
