SHIJIAZHUANG, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and dozens of others injured in separate road accidents in north and central China, traffic police said Thursday.
More than 20 vehicles were involved in nine separate collisions Thursday morning on a 2-km section of an expressway in Hebei Province, killing four people and injuring nine others, according to Hebei traffic police.
Police said the section of the expressway linking Daqing City of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province and Guangzhou, capital city of southern Guangdong Province, was suddenly covered in heavy fog.
The injured have been sent to local hospitals. Their conditions are unknown.
Separately, a vehicle collision in central China's Henan Province on Thursday morning left seven people dead and another 20 injured.
The accident happened at 8:22 a.m. when two passenger buses collided with each other in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, according to sources with the Zhengzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.
The injured have been sent to local hospitals.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
