Croatian president meets Chinese Deputy FM on ties

ZAGREB, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Croatian President Ivo Josipovic met visiting Chinese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Song Tao in Zagreb on Friday.

Josipovic said his country valued friendship between Croatia and China and Croatia appreciated the concept of peaceful development advocated by China.

Josipovic said Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to his country in 2009 has greatly boosted the development of bilateral relations, saying Croatia will further promote the cooperation with China in the fields of economy and trade, tourism and cultural taking the opportunity of the cooperation between China and Central-Eastern Europe countries.

Song said China regarded Croatia as a good friend and a good partner. China-Croatia ties are developing soundly and the two countries have been pushing forward the bilateral cooperation at various levels based on mutual respect since they established diplomatic relations 20 years ago, he said.

Song said China is willing to make joint efforts with Croatia to strengthen and expand their bilateral cooperation.

Song arrived in Zagreb on Thursday for a three-day visit.
