JAKARTA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Four people including three Chinese tourists were killed in an accident in Indonesia's West Java province, the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta confirmed Wednesday.

The accident took place at around 11 o'clock Monday when a tourist bus lost control and fell down at Emen Slope in Subang, West Java, police officer in charge of traffic management center in West Java, told Xinhua by phone on Tuesday.

The bus was heading from Bandung, capital of West Java province, to a hot spring resort named Sari Ater, he added.

The police officer said that three Chinese tourists and one Indonesian were killed in the accident, and all victims had been sent to Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.

The bus was carrying 19 passengers from both Chinese mainland and China's Taiwan, the Jakarta Post reported Tuesday. A malfunction of the brake system might be the cause, according to the report.
