BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese airlines have announced increased fuel surcharges for several overseas routes, according to Shanghai-based ctrip.com, China's leading travel service company.

From Monday, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines will increase the surcharge on routes from the Chinese mainland to the United States by 100 yuan (15.77 U.S. dollars) from the original 1,000 yuan, and that for return routes from the United States will be lifted to 175 U.S. dollars from the previous 160 U.S. dollars.

Meanwhile, Air China, the country's flag carrier, will raise the surcharge for tickets sold in Taiwan by 10 yuan to 175 yuan. But it will cut the surcharge on routes from China to Japan from 470 yuan to 450 yuan.
