ST. PETERSBURG, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese legislator Isma'il Tiliwaldi met with Russian officials on Friday, calling for closer regional level cooperation between the two countries.
Tiliwaldi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, met with Roman Panov, Russia's deputy minister of regional development and Vyacheslav Makarov, chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
Tiliwaldi praised the efforts made by the Russian ministry and the St. Petersburg legislative body in fostering regional level cooperation between the two countries.
He called on the federal government and the municipal legislative body to further promote cooperation programs, so as to push forward the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
The Russian side pledged to create more favorable conditions for region-to-region cooperation.
